Delivering the Gosford to Point Clare Shared Pathway
Today, the Minns Labor Government has announced a $41 million investment to continue the revitalisation of the Gosford waterfront precinct.
Almost exactly a year ago, I stood alongside our community in launching a petition calling on the NSW Government to pursue a shared pathway from Gosford to Point Clare.
I am thrilled to see this vision become a reality today.
Since I was elected, I have worked hard to deliver real investment in Gosford, not more glossy reports. Since coming to government in 2023, the Minns Labor Government is delivering real change for Gosford.
This investment provides a vital connection for our growing community to our spectacular natural landscape through active recreation.
The cycleway will allow local residents to make the most of this spectacular area and provide active and leisure opportunities for the local community for years to come.
We want to unlock Gosford’s potential, and this project is a vital step in connecting the community with the waterfront while boosting local businesses and strengthening local tourism opportunities.
Prior to the 2023 election, the Minns Labor Government made a $8.5 million commitment to conduct feasibility studies on how to best revitalise Gosford’s waterfront. Now that planning work has been completed, work will soon begin to deliver better access to one of the region’s key natural assets.
This long-awaited project will connect Gosford to Point Clare with a new boardwalk and cycleway, improving connectivity and opening up the Brisbane Water for the Central Coast community.
The project will deliver a one kilometre, 4.5-metre-wide pathway adjacent to the existing railway line over the Brisbane Water, providing a safe and dedicate link for people walking and riding between Gosford and the Peninsula.
This project is about connecting our community, expanding connection to our beautiful waterways and providing a gathering place for our community to enjoy.
The design includes a 100-metre bridge aligned with the existing railway bridge, allowing safe clearance for marine navigation and vessels.
Detailed design and environmental investigations are currently underway, and the proposed works will be subject to planning approval. Construction is expected to begin in late 2027 and is expected to take approximately two years to complete.
It builds on the work of the Minns Labor Government’s delivery in Gosford, including:
- $175,000 to establish the Gosford Strip Precinct
- $100,000 to continue the Gossy Weekender through Sound NSW
- A major rezoning to unlock more well-located homes for Gosford
- $8.5 million to revitalise the Gosford Waterfront
- $40 million for planning the Gosford Bypass to improve transport connections.
- $42.5 million for essential water and sewer infrastructure upgrades
- $1 million through the Gosford ‘Safer Cities’ program
Gosford has spent too long being talked about as a city with potential. These investments are about realising that potential, not in a glossy plan, rather in a precinct we can walk through and can enjoy.
This is a great achievement for our community. I’ll keep getting on with the job of delivering a revitalised Gosford CBD.
